Pinocchio

C’era una volta un pezzo di legno…

At the beginning of our story you won’t read these words: ”Once upon a time there was a piece of wood. Just a common block of firewood, one of those thick, solid logs that are put on the fire in winter”…Our mission is to recreate the protagonist of the children’s novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Collodi. Pinocchio is not just a wooden puppet, but a symbol of wood carving. Times have changed and Mastro Geppetto’s workshop would be different today. Though technology has not replaced handiwork, it certainly represents the evolution of old labour since it constantly supports craftsmen at work. New technology means 3D digital design and its subsequent CNC realisation. Pinocchio is the perfect combination of passion and technology, an inspiring example of design whose forms and details have been accurately planned into the minutest details since the very beginning. The students of Primary School in Orsogna were always at our side. Through their enthusiasm we managed to carry out what we had initially planned. That’s the reason why we were together the day we carried our Pinocchio to Collodi’s museum in order to leave him there, together with his unique and real creator.
